Verifying Stainless Steel Belt Material Before Your Order Ships

"Stainless" on a quotation is not evidence. What a buyer needs is a record that ties the material to the belt in the order, and a grade chosen for the actual line.

Stainless steel wire being fed for belt forming

Start with the application, then the grade

SUS304 and SUS316 are common choices, but neither is right for every line. Product contact, cleaning chemicals, moisture, salt and temperature all matter. We ask about them before recommending a grade, and the grade is confirmed on the drawing.

The line runs in steam and is cleaned with acid and alkaline agents. The customer specified 316 for chain, mesh and rods.

Five questions to ask any supplier

  • ›Which grade is on the drawing, and why that grade for my line?
  • ›Does the material certificate cover the wire, the rods and the edge parts?
  • ›Is the certificate for this order, or a general document?
  • ›How is the surface finished: pickled, passivated or electropolished? They are different treatments.
  • ›If I reorder, will the same grade and finish be used?

What we do not claim

A food application does not by itself mean a food-contact certification, and a grade does not confirm suitability for every environment. Materials and finish are confirmed for your line.

What to send us

The product, the cleaning chemicals and how often the line is washed, the temperature range, and a drawing or photos of the current belt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide a material certificate?

Yes, with every order.

Is SUS304 enough for a food line?

It depends on the product, cleaning chemicals and temperature. We ask about them and confirm the grade on the drawing.

Can the surface be electropolished?

Pickling, passivation and electropolishing are handled separately and confirmed for each belt; not every option applies to every belt type.
